I had a wonderful time in Ecuador in June 2002. Ecuador is a beautiful country, with beautiful people. One of my best moments was the Spanish classes with Mariana. She is not only an experienced, excellent teacher, but also a wonderful person who makes the class time a enjoyable moment. I strongly recommend their classes as a unique opportunity to learn Spanish and, at the same time, to make a very good friend in Quito.

After 10 years living in Peru and Ecuador, I finally realized I was going to have to buckle down and seriously study Spanish if I wanted to master the art of communicating with any degree of comfort in my adopted land. Lucky for me, I found Mariana’s notice on the bulletin board at Adam’s Rib (my favorite restaurant). It was the most professionally done announcement I had seen in years, so I chose her. Again, lucky for me. Mariana quickly identified my ingrained mistakes, and with patience and humor, untangled them. Today I can fairly well participate in bar talk and restaurant chatter with native Ecuadorians. My grasp of and confidence in speaking Spanish has grown exponentially, as has my friendship with Mariana and her family. Her vast travels abroad have given her insights into cultural and humanitarian issues that you’ll seldom find here. I would recommend Mariana to anyone at any level of learning the language. And remember, there’s always a cold beer and a willing practicioner of Spanish at the Rib.

La cantidad de español que aprendí en 11 días con Mariana fue equivalente a un curso introductorio de un semestre en la universidad ! Es una mestra extraordinaria y tiene mucha energía.
