Learn Spanish in Ecuador

Other Services

Through my experience of teaching Spanish, I have become very aware of the different needs and requirements of foreigners on arriving in Ecuador. I have therefore developed direct contacts with people offering other services, who are both experienced in their field and recommended in different guidebooks.

Host families

I know a number of families who have been acting as host families to foreign students for a long time. You would have a private bedroom, three meals a day or less if you wish, and your laundry would be done for you. However, above all, you would have a good opportunity to practice your Spanish. The families are based near to Mariscal, in residential areas near to spanish schools, banks and travel agents.

The cost of staying with a family is 14 dollars per day including 3 meals, 12 dollars per day including 2 meals and 10 dollars per day with just breakfast.

If the student would like to, they can live in my house and receive the same service as with other host families; what does vary is the location and the cost. I live in the Chillos Valley, surrounded by beautiful countryside and great views of volcanoes and the valley.

Salsa classes

Through the recommendations of my students, I know a professional salsa teacher who can teach you to dance salsa, merengue, cumbia, ballenato and son cubano in no time.

Voluntary work

I have worked as a volunteer in different organisations with street children and also in environmental organizations. This has enabled me to make contacts with various organisations who are always looking for volunteers and can provide voluntary work for tourists.

Excursions to the Galapagos

I have made personal contacts with the owners of various boats in all three different classes: economy, tourist and first class. I can therefore get you special rates which are much lower than the prices you would get from a travel agents.

The following boats which offer cruises of 4, 5 and 8 days have been recommended by some of my students. If you are interested in any of them, please write to us for the details of the cruise, the flight, and to make a reservation. The prices are lower than those obtained from travel agents because I have direct contact with the owners and operators of the boats.

What to Bring to the Galapagos

A pair of light tennis shoes, bathing suit, one pair of beach sandals, T –shirts, blue jeans, shorts, hat or baseball cap, wind breaker or sweater ( July to November), sun glasses, sunscreen, camera and films, video camera, underwater camera, sea sickness medication.
